Save (500) Days Of Summer

It's not a disastrous movie, but I found it to be ungainly, highly derivative and full of bolted-on artistic pretension.

The sorry narration is cornball drivel and the overly-complex ineffectual male meets shallow ditzy female 'who doesn't believe in love' plays about as well as it sounds it might play.

Deschanel plays Deschanel, as always, and this is not exactly a vehicle to move her forward as an actress. We never really get inside her character's sawdust-filled head, but maybe that's a good thing after 500 grueling days as a viewer.

I am bewildered by the way a very simple, entirely predictable rehash of a movie seemed to be generally well received and do fairly well at the box office.

Oh well, I guess that's showbiz. I'm still trying to figure out how the Freddy and Jason movies ever got past the idea stage...Get more detail about (500) Days Of Summer.
