the same director who gave us great films such as "The last of the mohicans" , "Heat" , "Manhunter" and to a lesser degree "the insider" and "collateral" has really faltered with his last couple outings to me . "Miami vice" ? and now this picture . i'm no filmaker . that said , "public enemies" is like so much of today's blockbuster fair . loud and largely uninteresting . you can count on Chris Bale to always give at least a serviceable performance . bad script . who cares about the characters ? nearly 2 and 1/2 hours long ? why ? boring and uninvolving until the Dolby bullets fly . then what ? shockingly tedious . look to older films about J.D. if inclined .Get more detail about Public Enemies.
